OUR STORIES

Welcome to RE:FORM
A place where Japanese minimalism meets Scandinavian simplicity, curating every piece with care, along with the stories and creativity behind them.
Re stands for rethinking and redefining, while Form focuses on function, flexibility, and finesse. Every home is unique, and the true value of a product lies in the meaning you give it. At RE:FORM, every piece is practical, elegant, and full of personality, carefully chosen because we genuinely love and use it ourselves. Slow down, explore, and enjoy the little things that make everyday life beautiful.
9A Tory Street, Wellington, was where our dream began. The flowing Art Nouveau-style door, the sign swaying in Wellington’s wind, and the smiles of every customer remain cherished memories. Though we’ve moved to Napier, those moments continue to inspire everything we do.

As described by Neat Places:
RE:FORM is one of those rare finds that feels more like an artistic experience than a shop - a pause in your day where the air somehow feels clearer and the pace a little more leisurely. A local celebration of the best of ‘Japandi’ design, this is a place where Scandinavian functionality meets the poetic restraint of Japanese aesthetics, resulting in a space that radiates calm confidence.
The store’s fitout echoes its minimalist yet practical philosophy: clean lines provide a frame for a mix of textures including warm wood and neutral tones, set against a spotless white backdrop. Shimmering silver kitchen utensils hang from hooks, juxtaposed against the earthy tones of the cushions that line an entire shelf. Outside, a beautiful wrought iron arch dominates the entrance, drawing curious passersby in.
At RE:FORM you’ll find a collection of pieces that are as practical as they are elegant - think hand-thrown ceramics, Japanese kitchen tools, Akari lighting, and homeware from standout Scandinavian and Japanese designers. The catalogue is refined and personal, shaped by a clear, independent point of view - the team here aren’t into following mindless trends. The owners only bring in what they genuinely use and love, and that honesty threads through everything, from the sustainable sourcing to the considered store layout.
If you’re into fast consumption or design fads, it’s probably best you look the other way. RE:FORM’s ethos is all about slowing down, buying better, and finding joy in the pieces that quietly shape our routines. Whether you’re after a gift with soul or something meaningful for your own space, this is the kind of place that reminds you what good design should feel like.
