Handwoven Akebi Vine Trivet - 22cm
Akebia Quinata is a wild plant native to the Tohoku region of Japan, blooming in spring and bearing fruit each autumn. With harvests declining year by year, the vines have become increasingly rare and precious.
Once gathered, the vines are dried for at least a year before being hand-woven by a small number of remaining artisans using traditional knotting techniques. The result is exceptionally hard and durable, a natural kitchen essential built to last.
Each trivet carries the quiet beauty of Japan's northern forests to your table. Natural variation in colour and texture means no two pieces are exactly alike.
It can be used as a trivet for hot cookware, or as a simple fruit bowl for everyday use.
