Japanese Ash-Glaze Vase
This vase is fired with a natural ash glaze. As wood ash drifts and settles inside the kiln, it melts into uneven patches of grey and white; the warm amber tones beneath come from Shigaraki ware's signature "hi-iro" (fire colour) effect — iron-rich local clay that colours naturally when fired at approximately 1300°C.
At approximately 17cm tall, it's ideal for simple floral arrangements, one or two stems through the main opening, with plenty of space left around them. With the lid on, it also works beautifully as a small ceramic sculpture.
-Hand wash only -Not microwave safe. -Not dishwasher safe. (Shigaraki pottery features unglazed or partially glazed surfaces with porous, breathable clay. The high temperatures, powerful water jets, and harsh detergents in dishwashers can damage the delicate surface of the pottery.) -Gently clean with warm water and a soft cloth or sponge -Dry thoroughly after washing
