DETAILS

Made from 18-8 stainless steel, with no seams or coating, these bowls are highly durable and will not peel or deteriorate over time. The matte finish resists scratches and stains, while the gently curved rim creates a natural pouring edge, allowing liquids to pour smoothly without a spout. They are built to last far longer than most kitchen tools.

Both sizes are designed to pair with the Sori Yanagi Perforated Colander, which fits neatly inside the bowl for draining, rinsing vegetables, or washing fruit. They also nest neatly with other sizes in the range for easy storage.

23cm — 3.4L
The more everyday, workhorse size. The deeper curved sides make it ideal for whisking, beating eggs, and mixing batters while keeping everything stable. Wide enough for an electric mixer without splashing, yet compact enough for daily use on the countertop.

27cm — 4.2L
Designed for larger, more heavy-duty tasks. Perfect for kneading dough, big salads, marinating a whole chicken, or whipping large batches of meringue. The wide, shallow shape makes it easy to hold between your arm and body while mixing, giving you better control with less effort.

1997 kitchen tools

From the 1990s to 2000s, Sori Yanagi designed numerous stainless steel kitchen tools to complement his pots and tableware.

Minimizing parts and using one-piece stainless steel construction, these tools were durable, easy to clean, and innovative for their time. Carefully shaped handles ensure a comfortable grip, while ladles are designed to scoop efficiently, pour easily, and skim ingredients or foam with precision.

The 1953 Kettle: Innovation Born from Post-War Tokyo

This kettle was originally developed in response to Tokyo Gas Company’s post-war demand for a highly efficient water-boiling appliance. Its unique central heating structure increases the surface area exposed to heat, allowing water to boil faster while maintaining excellent heat retention.

Although the original Speed Kettle had a short production run, its innovative concept was later carried forward and reintroduced in 1994 as a stainless steel kettle—becoming a timeless classic that balances functionality with industrial design elegance.
