Cast Iron Shallow Casserole 26cm
Crafted by OIGEN (founded in 1852), this cast iron pan brings the tradition of Japanese Nambu Tekki ironware into the modern kitchen. Originally designed for sukiyaki, its shallow shape and excellent heat retention make it perfect for gyoza, roasting vegetables, searing meat, and everyday cooking — moving easily from stovetop to table.
The Yakisugi (burned cedar) lid helps retain heat while absorbing excess moisture, adding both function and a subtle natural aroma. Durable, versatile, and timeless, it’s a piece made to be used and enjoyed for years.

OIGEN Casting | The "beautiful cast surface" that is synonymous with OIGEN is the result of the skills of our artisans, learned and cultivated from previous generations of craftsmen.
Sand
Craftsmen check the sand’s moisture by hand several times a day. The right moisture is essential for accurate molds, as sand dries quickly with small changes in temperature and humidity.
Iron
Each product requires a different pouring temperature. Large, heavy pots need high-temperature, fast pouring, while small trays use about 200°C lower. Years of experience are needed to get it just right.
Unglazed finish
OIGEN’s “naked cast finish” is made by treating iron at 900°C. It naturally resists rust while keeping the iron’s texture, creating a high-quality surface without coatings.
