Hinoki Cutting Board - Small
There's something about a really good cutting board that makes cooking feel like less of a chore.
This one is made from a single piece of Shimanto hinoki cypress — Wood that's spent 70 to 80 years growing slowly in the forests of Kochi, Japan tends to have something special about it. This hinoki cypress is dense and warm, with a quiet, distinctive fragrance that fills the kitchen when you first use it — gentle, not overpowering, and genuinely calming.
Hinoki has long been prized in Japan for being gentle on knife edges, so your good knives will thank you too.
The surface has a naturally soft pale pink tone, and the wood's own oils help it shed moisture rather than soak it up. The edges are treated to resist staining, and it comes with a rotating cherry wood stand so you can leave it upright to dry — no lying flat on a damp bench.
At 20mm thick it's got real heft and stability, but it's still light enough to move around without thinking about it.
-Hand wash both sides after each use, wipe dry, and air dry upright -Avoid dishwashers, direct sunlight, and heater/AC airflow -Occasionally dampen both sides to prevent cracking -Rub olive oil or linseed oil along the edges regularly -If warping occurs, place a damp cloth on the concave side overnight, then dry in the shade — repeat if needed
